Position: Teacher Aide

Location: Chestertown, MD

Reports To: Lead Teacher / Center Director

Job Summary:

The Teacher Aide assists the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young children. This role supports daily classroom activities, ensures the well-being of children, and helps implement the daycare’s curriculum while fostering social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and conducting age-appropriate activities.
Supervise children to ensure safety and positive interactions.
Support children's daily routines, including meals, naps, and bathroom breaks.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
Help monitor children's development and behavior, reporting concerns to the Lead Teacher.
Encourage positive behavior and assist with conflict resolution.
Communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding children's progress and needs.
Follow daycare policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures.
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; coursework in early childhood education preferred.
Previous experience working with young children in a daycare or school setting is a plus.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to lift and carry children as needed.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with children.
